Reasons to NOT become a Amateur Radio Operator (HAM)
Written by an Amateur Radio Operator (Paul VK7FPGB)

So you want to become an Amateur Radio Operator (HAM), well let me ask you this question, WHY?
Is it that your a CB operator who is looking for a new challenge or maybe your a scanner user who has heard them talking and want to join in, maybe you have never done anything with radio at all but would like to learn something new.
Let me tell you, I would think about it VERY carfully before you do anything.

Here are some
Reasons to NOT become a Amateur Radio Operator (HAM)
1) There is way too much in fighting and childish behaviour.
2) It is very much a "closed shop" unless you know somebody face to face in real life they don't want to talk to you on the air.
3) Some people have a very over inflated idea of themself's.
4) The overall feeling I have got since I got my amateur licence is that it is the old boys club and until you prove yourself then you are really not welcome, if this is due to me having a F call and being a lower class citizen I am not 100% sure.
